What I Loved In October

What-I-Loved-in-OctoberWHAT I ATE
Bare Bones Broth: As I’ve mentioned a bit in recent posts, after a few months of sloppiness following my wedding and honeymoon, I’ve decided to re-dedicate myself to hormonal and gut health. For me, like many women, these two things go hand in hand. I’ve always known that bone broth is extremely powerful for gut healing, but I could never really commit to having it regularly. I did discover a method of cooking my own broth that makes the process a whole lot easier (more on that to come), but I’ve also been leaning on Bare Bones Broth. Although it’s great to make broth at home, it’s not always something I can do and I’m consistently thankful to have Bare Bones ready to go in my freezer. I’ve tried a lot of bone broth and theirs is hands down the best.

Sun Basket: If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat, you’ve likely seen me rave about Sun Basket. Unlike the vast majority of meal delivery services out there, Sun Basket stands out in a few MAJOR ways. First of all, their meals are certified Organic. Second of all, they make it easy for those of us with dietary issues to choose meals we want – they have options that are dairy-free, paleo, gluten-free, vegetarian, etc. Not only that, but you actually get to choose the exact meals/recipes you’d like to receive. So there are no surprises or the possibility of wasted ingredients or money. The best part of all? You can try out Sun Basket and get 6 meals for only $34. Ie, that’s 6 certified Organic meals for $5. There’s basically nothing to lose. In order to get these deal (which is the equivalent of getting 3 meals for free), just use this link and hit “Redeem Offer” – bit.ly/3mealsfree

Caveman Chicken Jerky: Overeating always seems to be a topic of discussion, but underrating doesn’t get much attention. Unfortunately, many of us aren’t eating enough food throughout the day. The result can be hormonal imbalances, stress, water retention and an inability to lose weight. Yes, you heard that right, not eating enough can PREVENT you from losing weight. I recently tried Caveman Foods Chicken Jerky and I love that it’s an easy way for me to get some extra protein and nutrients into my diet. Not only that, but the Caveman Foods products contain no refined sugar and only real, whole food ingredients. By using the code “Anya15” you can save 15% on products bought from their website!

WHAT I READ
Food Freedom Forever: It’s hard for me to summarize what I loved about this book because there was literally nothing I didn’t love about it. Food Freedom Forever, by Melissa Hartwig (the co-founder of Whole30) is all about how to cultivate life-long, sustainable habits when it comes to healthy eating. We all know diets don’t work. Food Freedom Forever is all about what does work.

Paleo Soups & Stews: Did you catch my review for Paleo Soups & Stews? This cookbook is seriously amazing and absolutely perfect for this time of year. Check out my review and get the recipe for the 30 Cloves of Garlic Soup!

FUN NEW DISCOVERIES
Paleo Pep Talk Cards: Chelsea, the founder of Paleo Pep Talk reached out to me a few months ago asking whether or not I’d be willing to receive some of her encouragement cards for people starting out on a paleo diet. The idea seemed adorable and I agreed. Needless to say, the cards are so cute and full of witty phrases and motivation to keep you on track. Check out her website here!

Smarty Pants Prenatal Multi-Vitamin: After joining the Healthy Hormones Group (more on this below) and speaking to Alex of Dig Primal about what supplements I might be missing from my regimen, she suggested taking a multi-vitamin. My initial reaction was disappointment, because the thought of adding one more supplement to day seemed really unappealing. But then I remembered hearing about the Prenatal Smarty Pants Multi-Vitamin which appealed to me for a few reasons. First of all, it’s a gummy… so how hard could that be to add. Plus, because it was the prenatal version it contained folate, which is extremely beneficial for hormonal health. Many multi-vitamins contain folic acid, which is the synthetic form of folate, but not the prenatal. And, I have to say, I now look forward to taking my multi-vitamin every day!

Aculief: So, I can’t actually say this is a new discovery, but it’s consistently one of my favorite little gadgets and I haven’t talked nearly enough about it on my blog. Aculief is wearable acupressure and is designed to relieve tension and headaches. Although I don’t get headaches often, when I do, I never want to take conventional over the counter medication. Instead, I pop on my Aculief and it always works like a charm. Not only that, but I’ve found it to be a very good preventative measure when I’m afraid of getting a hangover. Although I have pretty much eliminated alcohol for the past year or so do to hormonal reasons, this certainly came in handy when I use to drink more frequently. Simply wear your aculief to bed after a night of drinking and you may be surprised to wake up completely headache-free!

WHAT I USED ON MY SKIN & HAIR
Desert Essence Blemish Stick: Tea Tree Oil has always been one of my favorite products for spot treating, but it can be a little too harsh and drying, especially in the winter months. I’ve really been loving the Desert Essence Blemish Stick because it’s not as harsh, but equally as powerful as a spot treatment.

My Favorite Products for Dry Skin: Dry skin season is here again and I outlined some of my favorite products for combatting this pesky skin issue here!

Skin Detox Regimen: Detox is an imperative part of balancing your hormones, regardless of the symptoms you may be experiencing. I outline some of my favorite products for detoxing that work extra well for healthy skin here.

Beautycounter Sea Salt Spray: Let’s be honest, who has time to do their hair every day? I certainly don’t. In fact, sometimes after taking a shower I’m even too lazy to dry it. Recently I’ve been using Beautycounter’s Sea Salt Spray by separating my hair into 5 sections, twisting them together and then spraying it with the Sea Salt Spray. After my hair has dried, I pull the pieces apart and have effortless waves! How’s that for easy? Also, my October Beautycounter promotion is still in effect until October 31st! I will be sending anyone that places an order of any value a free sample of the Charcoal Cleansing Mask. For those of you that place an order of $100 or more, I will personally mail you a FREE full-size mascara, lip sheer or essentials or countertime sample set. All you need to do is place an order through this link – anyaseats.com/beautycounter and I will be notified when you order!

RECIPES I CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF
Gut-Healing Apple Cinnamon Gummies: Did you miss my post for these easy as can be 3-ingredient gut healing gummies? Go check it out!

Chocolate Pumpkin Almond Butter Cups: Nothing says Halloween like these Chocolate Pumpkin Almond Butter Cups, I make these every October!

Thick and Creamy Dairy-Free Clam Chowder: I was craving some traditional New England Clam Chowder and decided to take a stab at my own recipe. Traditionally this soup contains dairy and gluten, but my version is just as thick and creamy, without any of those ingredients!

PROGRAMS, PRODUCTS AND EVENTS
The Healthy Hormones Program: I’ve mentioned this program a few times in passing and plan on dedicating a whole post to it soon, but I am so in love with this program and it’s only been a month. It’s been over a year since I had any tests done and although I’ve made immense progress when it comes to my acne and hormonal health, I knew it was time to re-test and refocus. Although I got maybe 85% of the way there on my own, I wanted and needed the support to keep going. If you’re someone who struggles with any hormonal issue whatsoever, or you’re not sure whether or not your issues are hormonal, I highly recommend checking out this program. The next one will likely start next year so you have some time to think it over and learn more. Feel free to email Alex and Megan with any questions and they will be MORE than happy to answer them for you. Don’t forget to tell them Anya sent you!

ShiftCon 2016: I’m headed to ShitCon for the first time this December and I’m super excited about it! ShiftCon is a conference for influencers in the health & wellness space and is a fantastic opportunity to connect with brands and other like-minded people. The conference is December 1-3 in New Orleans and by using the code “ANYASEATS” you can get $50 off your ticket at ShiftConMedia.com!
