I’ve been pretty obsessed with berry compote for a while.

First of all, berries are exceptionally nutritious… not to mention super tasty. Secondly, compote is extremely versatile (meaning a million different variations/uses) and last but not least, it is a breeze to make.

I primarily use compote as a topping for pancakes or chia pudding. But really, the sky’s the limit!

  • 10 oz frozen blueberries (normally one full bag if you're buying them pre-frozen), or any frozen berry
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon coconut sugar


  • Place frozen blueberries in a small saucepan.
  • Turn heat to medium and wait until it comes to a light boil.
  • Simmer on low until most of the liquid disappears, making sure to continually stir and mash berries, about 10 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and serve right away or chill and reheat.
