As I’ve written about in the past, I recently stopped eating dairy. However, I do still occasionally have whey in the form of protein powder. Whey doesn’t bother me like casein does and it’s high in glutathione which according to some recent blood tests, I am extremely low in.
In general, I don’t recommend consuming tons and tons of protein powder because at the end of the day, protein powders are not whole foods. I would always recommend getting protein from whole food sources. However, a little bit isn’t going to hurt you if you make sure to get one without a ton of additives and excess sugar. My go-to protein powder is Mark Sisson’s Chocolate Primal Fuel. Believe me, I have tried so many different types of protein powders in the past and none of them were every very good. However, Primal has the most amazing flavor and texture, especially given how few ingredients it has.
This recipe is low and sugar and perfect when you don’t have time to make breakfast. I love making this in my Vitamix s30 and bringing it with me to work in the to-go cup.
- 2 scoops Chocolate Primal Fuel
- 1 cup nut milk (I used almond milk)
- 4 frozen strawberries
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 2 ice cubes
- Place all ingredients in blender and blend on high until well combined.
