After several weeks of nearly 100 degree weather in San Diego, last week if finally cooled down and we even got some rain, which was a very welcomed treat. If there is any time of year that I miss living on the East Coast, it’s definitely fall. Having grown up and lived in New York for my whole life, watching the leaves change color and experiencing the change in seasons was something I took for granted until moving to California. I love year round sunshine but there is something about the seasons that really forces you to appreciate nature and all this beautiful planet has to offer. We have mild seasons in San Diego but certainly nothing as severe as the change that occurs on the East Coast.
Following those few days of rain, it quickly warmed up again and tomorrow it’s supposed to be in the 90s again. I am trying my best to stay in fall mode and trying to live vicariously through pumpkin smoothies. Thankfully it looks like the weather is going cool down again next week. I am definitely ready for boots and sweaters! (Yes, we wear those in CA too). 🙂
This dairy-free pumpkin pie smoothie is perfect for this time of year and a great change when I want to mix it up from my go-to green smoothies.

These recipes sound amazing and not too complicated. I’m desperately searching for safe foods for my daughter. She has lost over 120 lbs. due to getting cramping and diarrhea from everything she eats. Her current weight would be considered normal, but she continues to have the symptoms which cause the weight loss. She was recently diagnosed with extreme allergies to cow’s milk, corn and soy as well as allergies to sugar beets, glycerin, wheat and eggs. That’s all the doctor said he could test her for. Any suggestions would be welcome!
I would listen to what the doctor said and find recipes without those ingredients! You could also try visiting a naturopath for more in depth testing.
Thank you!
